The Colonial Lake Park Reclamation and Restoration Project 2025

This project restores a former asphalt parking lot behind Bus. Rt. 1 into protected green space. Funded by a grant, Lawrence Township removed the pavement, restored the adjacent shoreline with coir logs, planted hundreds of native plants, added an educational meadow, and installed a split-rail wooden fence. Location: Directly behind an existing business on Bus. Route 1.

Property: Parcel purchased by Lawrence Township to be integrated into the existing park.

Shoreline Work: Restored approximately 100 yards of shoreline using coir mats and logs for soil retention.

Meadow Creation: Added a meadow in the former parking lot area, incorporating a group of trees and a small parking zone.

Site Protection: Installed a split-rail wooden fence to protect the newly established meadow area.

Pedestrian Access: Extended the existing walking path out to Bus. Route 1.

Signage: Installed informational and educational signs throughout the project area.
