About Us
Mission
Founded in 2018, we are dedicated to preserving the natural landscapes and ecological integrity of southern Lawrence Township, New Jersey. By protecting our dwindling open spaces, we foster a deeper sense of neighborhood connectivity and ensure a resilient, green future for our community.
FCLP History
Our journey from a grassroots movement in 2018 to a permanent conservation force.
-
Grassroots Origins: We began as a community-led effort to protect our local landscape from commercial development and preserve the natural beauty of our neighborhood.
-
Successful Advocacy: Our group successfully campaigned against hotel construction on waterfront-adjacent land, championing a more sustainable, community-focused use for the space.
-
Strategic Partnerships: By securing the vital support of the Lawrence Township Town Council, we coordinated with state, county, and municipal agencies, as well as fellow conservation organizations.
-
Land Preservation: Through these collaborative efforts, we successfully facilitated the purchase of the property, integrating it into the existing park system.
-
Lasting Legacy: We have ensured that this vital green space remains a protected public treasure for current and future generations.
Vision
A vibrant, preserved Colonial Lake Park that serves as a permanent sanctuary for nature and a thriving hub for the Lawrence Township community.
