About the Park
and rules

A 25-acre lake is the focal point of the park, which includes an 8-foot-wide paved path that hugs the shoreline of Colonial Lake. There is an elegant pocket park at the east end of the lake, near the footbridge, with pine trees and rocky outcroppings on a grassy little hill. The rock is from the Middle Proterozoic (about 1.0 to 1.6 billion years old), and marks the edge of New Jersey’s coastal plain, the flat and sandy region to the east and south. For a landmark, it is at the park entrance at Colonial Lake Dr and Hopatcong Dr.

Parking

  • 100 Bridge Dr (aka Lake Court Lot​)

  • North Entrance behind Bowling Entertainment Center (8 spaces, 4 Handicap marked)

  • Lake Dr. near Cul-de-sac, 4 spaces

Rules  (Lawrence Twp Parks)

  • Hours: Dawn to Dusk.

  • No camping, sleeping, or lodging is permitted in park areas.

  • No feeding of wildlife.

  • No Hunting.

  • No Drones.

  • No Alcoholic Beverages.

  • No Vandalism.

  • No Littering.

  • Firearms, including Paint Ball Rifles are prohibited.

  • Fireworks on park grounds is prohibited.

  • Drones are prohibited.

  • Motorized Vehicles, Motorcycles, ATV's, and Dirt Bikes prohibited inside the Park. (Ord. #1954-07)​

  • Hitting Golf Balls is prohibited.

  • Fishing permitted (License Required) 

  • Pets:  Permitted:

    • Must be leashed (max 6 feet).

    • Pet waste must be removed and properly disposed.

  • Closed Areas: The Lawrence Township Recreation Department may close any section or part of a park at any time. 

  • Vehicles: Vehicles must be parked in designated areas.

  • ​Enforcement is by Lawrence Twp Police Dept.  (ORD. #195407)​
